The Drakensberg Series
Following the completion of the ‘London Series’ in 1972, around five years passed before Leda began her next major body of work.
In 1977, she returned to painting with the ‘Drakensberg Series’. These works focus on the landscapes of the Drakensberg and the Midlands of KwaZulu-Natal, particularly in winter, when the grasses are brown and the palette is more muted.
The series marked a clear shift from the urban and more abstract concerns of the ‘London Series’. It also formed the basis of Leda’s first exhibition.
